This course combines an interactive self-instructed training resource and practical activities including basic life support and the safe use of an automated external defibrillator.

The course aims to ensure that all members of staff can identify and initiate basic management of clinical emergencies. This includes monitoring the patient , identifying patients who are Ďat riskí or are becoming critically ill, basic life support and the safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and scenario training.

The self-directed learning course aims to build the learnerís confidence by enhancement of both skills and knowledge in a progressive manner. Each module has clear learning outcomes and activities which the learner can undertake at a time and pace convenient for them.

The course material is of the highest quality written and presented by an experienced Practitioner who teaches for both the Resuscitation Council (UK) and European Resuscitation Council (ERC).

Donít forget training does not have to take place just once a year . It is common knowledge that skills you donít use Ė you lose. This course will be available to staff year-round, enabling them to retain the knowledge and skills base required, and top it up if need be to ensure they have the optimum levels of competence and confidence.

The interactive training programme matches the cost of most traditional courses; however, you get to keep the training manikin and training  AED worth around £250, and have access to the course 365 days a year.  So is much better value and proven to be as effective, if not more than traditional training.

Why self directed learning?.

Dealing with medical emergencies and providing life saving skills requires repetitive practice. Traditional face to face training only provides you with a few hours of training per year. As all resuscitation equipment is provided this scheme enables you to practice  your skills and refresh your knowledge throughout the year. Making it both cost effective and convenient.

The overall aim of the course is to provide a quality training course which is flexible, effective and efficient in meeting your educational needs.

A few Questions and Answers

Q. Is this training accredited ?.

A. Yes this training is accredited through the Institute of Training and Occupational Learning, and meets the requirements for CPD.

Q. Why is this better than face to face training ?.

A. The traditional method of face to face training limits you to a 2-3 hour session once a year. Compared to this method of learning where you have access to the interactive program and equipment for 365 days a year. The cost is significantly cheaper as you are not paying for a trainer each year. You don't have to arrange for everyone to be in the same place at the same time for the training, and you don't have to close the practice.

Q. What are the course aims and objectives ?.

A. Click here for full aims and objectives.

Q. What if I have just my training ?
